Joe Stevens joined the firm in 2001 as a technical advisor and continued to work for Patterson & Sheridan while obtaining his Juris Doctorate and USPTO registration. Joe practices patent preparation and prosecution, both domestic and international, for clients in various technical fields including semiconductor manufacturing, electronics, medical devices and computer science. He has generated and prosecuted patents in a number of intellectual property areas, such as semiconductor processing, MEMS technologies, energy related products, medical devices, electro-optics, RF plasma-based material processing techniques, device and material analysis techniques and various mechanical arts. In addition, Joe conducts due diligence studies of intellectual property portfolios for asset management and corporate acquisitions. He also provides pre-litigation investigation and litigation support with an emphasis on non-infringement and invalidity studies and opinions. Prior to joining the firm, Joe was a Senior Engineering Manager in the Electrochemical Products Division at Applied Materials and was a Member of the Technical Staff in the Physical Vapor Deposition Division. He holds over 30 patents and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California.
