Intellectual property law firm Patterson + Sheridan announces the relocation of the firm’s Silicon Valley office from Palo Alto to downtown San Jose. The new office, a 5900 square-foot space located at 50 West San Fernando Street, Suite 250, includes 12 offices, two conference rooms, a kitchen and a storage area. All of the offices will have glass fronts to facilitate internal communication and provide lots of light. Phone numbers for the new office will remain the same: the main number will continue to be 650/330-2310. The move should be completed by October 1. Joe Stevens is the managing partner for the Silicon Valley office.

In the heart of downtown San Jose, the new office is located across the street from the San Jose Museum of Art and close to such San Jose landmarks as Plaza de César Chavez, the Tech Museum of Innovation, the City National Civic, and Parkside Hall. The new office will also be close to the new Google location in downtown San Jose. 

“We had two primary reasons for making the move,” explains founding partner and managing director Todd Patterson. “The first is that we realized we would actually be closer to most of our Silicon Valley clients in San Jose than in Palo Alto. The second is, of course, cost. Our office in San Jose, at approximately the same size as the Palo Alto location, will cost about half as much.

“Since we do not charge our clients for travel expenses and often bring in attorneys from our other offices to meet face-to-face with our Silicon Valley clients, cost is always an issue.” Patterson adds that a third consideration is the reduction in commute time that will result for most of the firm’s staff. The new office is also close to rail lines.
