Patent Professional IV

Houston, TX

We are currently seeking two Patent Professional IV’s (also referred to as Prosecution Paralegals) in our Houston office. This position will be a member of a highly collaborative legal support team and will provide secretarial/administrative support to Partners, Associates, and Technical Advisors in intellectual property matters, with a primary focus on domestic patent prosecution and trademark filings. Responsibilities include: Prepare and file both U.S. and foreign patent applications, compile and analyzes data, prepare quarterly annuity reports, seek and track decisions from client for payment, tracking and payment of maintenance fees and annuities, manage renewal payment process, prepare and process correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents. The ideal candidate will also have experience with foreign translations to English, from other languages, using Espacenet/EPO/JIPO and the like, research IP assets as part of merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions, as well as, ownership of registered patents, trademarks and copyrights. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate and/or equivalent education and experience relevant to Intellectual Property.

This is a hands-on position that involves working within a team-oriented and client centered environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent flexibility, organization skills, and be detail-oriented with strong communication and client service skills. Three or more years of experience working on patent prosecution in an IP law firm or corporate law department required. Experience with IP docketing systems, such as IP Manager, as well as working knowledge of IPDAS, PatentOptimizer and iManage are strongly preferred. Additionally, this candidate should have thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, PAIR, EPAS and EFS-Web, ClaimMaster and MPEP and be proficient with legal and patent terminology.

IP Legal Administrative Assistant

Greensboro, NC

We are currently seeking an IP Legal Administrative Assistant in our Greensboro office. This position will be a member of a highly collaborative legal support team and will provide secretarial/administrative support to Partners, Associates, and Technical Advisors in intellectual property matters, with a primary focus on domestic patent prosecution and trademark filings. Responsibilities include: managing attorney dockets on a daily basis, processing and filing domestic patent applications with the USPTO, preparing and processing legal documents, correspondence and memoranda, drafting reporting correspondence to clients, and communicating and collaborating with clients and third parties as necessary.

IP Litigation Associate

Houston, TX

Patterson + Sheridan, LLP is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our growing IP Litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic and professional credentials, as well as a minimum of 4-7 years of experience handling all aspects of intellectual property and/or patent litigation. A degree or background in engineering or the sciences and actual patent litigation trial experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with 5+ years of general litigation experience in a large law firm setting that demonstrate the ability to learn underlying technology will also be considered. Candidates must have a JD, strong research, verbal and written communication skills.
