Business Development & Marketing Manager

Houston, TX

We are currently seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager in our Houston office. This role will work with the supervising partner and fractional Chief Revenue Officer to create, implement and ensure the long term success of the defined strategic business development and marketing plan.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Firm's overall marketing strategy and build internal support for effectiveness.
  • Responsible for providing competitive intelligence research and analysis on the industries, clients, competitors and marketplaces of the Firm.
  • Facilitate client or potential client calls, meetings, follow-up and relationship nurturing.
  • Develop brochures or other print/electronic materials to market Firm services.
  • Prepare proposals/pitches, including relevant documents, and evaluate progress by client/prospect, industry and type of services proposed.
  • Work directly with attorneys on business development initiatives and programs around new business generation and existing client development. This includes the development of business plans with specific targets.
  • Ensure timely upkeep of practice area information – practice descriptions and biographies – for marketing and business development purposes.
  • Maintain CRM data and process, ensure software accuracy.
  • Serve as liaison between practice areas of the Firm and the marketing department to maintain timely, two-way flow of information.
  • Manage event logistics highlighting Firm services, including client education and entertainment initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain department records and reports.
  • Manage the Firm website and social media activity.
  • Draft and distribute internal Firm communications as needed.
  • Responsible for submission of Firm data for surveys and rankings to media and other communications outlets. Maintain records of submissions from year to year.
  • Identify and develop speaking and authorship opportunities for attorneys.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or related field required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business development or marketing in a professional services or related field.
  • Proven ability to synthesize information into professional communications.

Docketing Coordinator

Houston, TX

We are currently seeking a Docketing Coordinator in our Houston office. This position will be a member of a highly collaborative administrative team and will calendar relevant and pertinent deadlines into the Firm’s docketing database to ensure the timely monitoring of all patent and trademark deadlines. Responsibilities include: daily review and processing of all incoming mail, including entering all necessary deadlines into docketing database, review and process outgoing USPTO mail and electronic filings for accuracy and completeness, generate and distribute daily and weekly docket reminder reports, monitor and update information on all U.S./foreign case records/related docket entries, including attorney responses, assist in auditing/entering/updating all IP matters transferred into the Firm, generate and prepare patent status and docket reports for lawyers and clients and other duties as assigned.

This is a hands-on position that involves working in a team-oriented and client centered environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, understand the importance of accurate work product and deadlines, and be client (internal/external) service focused. A high school diploma or equivalent certificate and one or more years of experience working in a law firm or corporate law department preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and iManage/FileSite is required. Knowledge of IPManager/IPMaster is considered a plus.

IP Litigation Associate

Houston, TX

Patterson + Sheridan, LLP is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our growing IP Litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic and professional credentials, as well as a minimum of 4-7 years of experience handling all aspects of intellectual property and/or patent litigation. A degree or background in engineering or the sciences and actual patent litigation trial experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with 5+ years of general litigation experience in a large law firm setting that demonstrate the ability to learn underlying technology will also be considered. Candidates must have a JD, strong research, verbal and written communication skills.
