Doug Scholer is a registered patent attorney who represents Fortune 100 companies during all phases of patent prosecution and related intellectual property matters. After graduating from Notre Dame with a degree in electrical engineering, Doug served as a decorated military officer with the National Security Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Exposure to foreign telecommunications, electronics, weaponry, and other diverse technologies segued into an interest in patent law, allowing Doug to leverage his background while making a name for himself as a trusted, resourceful business advisor.

Armed with a broad range of legal expertise, including domestic and foreign patent prosecution and litigation, Doug offers extensive licensing, counseling and opinion experience, in addition to representing clients in trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. The technologies he supports are equally diverse – ranging from computer hardware and software, telecommunications, acoustics, semiconductors, power generation, business methods, and storage systems. Doug’s hands-on approach, combined with a commitment to providing top-tier service, gives clients a strategic advantage in their respective markets and around the world.
A dedicated community leader
In addition to running a military family assistance program and the Notre Dame Club in North Carolina, Doug mentors and tutors students at a local elementary school. He also enjoys boxing, basketball, the beach, and spending time with his four children.
