Malgorzata ‘Gosia’ Kulczycka Joins Patterson + Sheridan as New Partner in San Jose Office

Patterson Sheridan is pleased to announce the addition of new partner Malgorzata “Gosia” Kulczycka, Ph.D, J.D., to its San Jose office. With over 15 years of legal experience, Gosia brings a wealth of knowledge in intellectual property law to the firm.

Gosia’s unique background as an inventor turned IP lawyer allows for a deep understanding of the patent process and the importance of protecting intellectual property. Her expertise covers a wide range of IP areas and technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, communication technologies, complex software, computer networks and graphics, and electronics. She has procured and managed large IP client accounts in these fields, and in 2022 she represented a defendant in six patent reexamination cases, succeeding in all of them.

As a skilled communicator with strong attention to detail and a broad technical background, Gosia specializes in a wide range of intellectual property matters. She encourages clients to consider different perspectives to accurately and comprehensively capture inventions. Her clients appreciate her thoughtful and strategic approach to IP protection.

Gosia holds a Ph.D. in computer science and engineering from Oakland University in Michigan and a J.D. from the University Of San Diego School of Law. She is an active member of the American Bar Association’s IP section and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), where she has presented several webinars and was named “Woman to Watch.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Gosia to our team,” said partner Joe Stevens. “Her extensive experience and unique perspective as an inventor will be invaluable to our clients as they navigate the complex world of intellectual property law.”

Before joining Patterson and Sheridan, Gosia was a partner at Hickman Becker Bingham Ledesma LLP in San Jose, California. Prior to attaining her law degree, she was previously a computer graphics project manager and software design engineer at General Motors Corporation (1989 – 2005) for the GM driving simulator and Virtual Reality Studio at the Design Center. She designed, developed, and programmed numerous components of computer networks and developed software applications in the areas of computer system integration, virtual reality, real-time simulation, 3D projection, and computer graphics animation.
