Patterson + Sheridan Opens Sixth U.S. Office in San Diego

Intellectual property law firm Patterson + Sheridan announces the opening of the firm’s sixth U.S. office in San Diego on December 2. The firm also has an international office in Yokohama, Japan. The new San Diego office, located at 4660 La Jolla Village Drive, Suite 200, in the La Jolla University Towne Centre area, is intended to better serve Patterson + Sheridan clients located in Southern California.

The opening of a San Diego office provides a base for Patterson + Sheridan attorneys who already live and work in San Diego and for visiting attorneys from other offices. Ankur Garg and Nick Transier will lead the new office.

Ankur Garg has worked for nearly a decade helping high-tech startups and existing companies in areas ranging from software products and wireless communications to medical devices and consumer electronics, turn innovative ideas into secured, tangible assets. He counsels clients on the preparation and prosecution of patents, infringement and validity opinions, freedom-to-operate analysis, and post-grant review and re-examination proceedings. Prior to joining Patterson + Sheridan, Garg was an in-house patent counsel for a large telecommunications company.

Nick Transier’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution as well as on third-party practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Technical areas of interest in Transier’s practice include telecommunications, electronics, semiconductors and software. Transier has 10 years’ experience in both prosecution and litigation and has defended mechanical and electrical innovations including consumer electronic devices, computer software systems, display technologies and medical devices.

Sepp Zangeneh will join Transier and Garg in the new San Diego office. Zangeneh works with companies of all sizes that are producing high-tech, revolutionary products. His areas of expertise include graphic user interfaces, multimedia processing, web-related technologies, internet gaming, virtualization, wireless communications and semiconductor packaging.

“As our firm grows,” explains founding partner and managing director Todd Patterson, “our first priority always is to facilitate better service to our clients. Although our client base is far-flung, we have a strong firm-wide commitment to providing face-to-face availability to our clients, rather than relying on videoconferencing and email. We have a significant client base in Southern California. Therefore, establishing a San Diego office is an obvious next step.”
