A mechanical engineering background and spirit of innovation

Audrey is a mechanical engineer who prides herself on her strong communication and problem-solving skills. As a technical advisor, she works closely with the firm’s attorneys to support clients and protect their intellectual property in the areas of AI and machine learning, as well as electronics and semiconductor technologies. She also has experience in the oil and gas sector.

Driven by a desire to work with innovative technologies intending to solve real-world problems, Audrey discovered she could combine her interests and skills by pursuing a career in IP. She began her tenure as an intern for Patterson + Sheridan where she prepared and drafted responses to office actions related to technologies in semiconductors, oil and gas, and motor vehicles.

Audrey honed her technical skills interning at a large subsea oil and gas company in Houston where she designed a split-latch ring for an industry-first project using AutoCAD, performed finite element analysis (FEA) using ANSYS, and derived supporting engineering calculations to ensure the functionality and efficiency of a tool she helped design. She has additional experience working with Inventor, SolidWorks, MATLAB, COMSOL and MatchCAD.

Audrey earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston. During her time there, she completed a semester abroad at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia in Spain.

An outside-the-box thinker who doesn’t back down from a challenge

Audrey is a creative and dynamic writer who leverages her communication skills and outside-the-box thinking when drafting clear and concise patent applications to protect her clients’ inventions. Simultaneously detail-oriented and able to see the big picture of her clients’ ideas, she is perceptive of the needs of inventors who work in challenging technical fields. Audrey’s work ethic has earned praise by her peers who recognize her willingness to work until a job is completed thoroughly and correctly.

When she’s not at the office, Audrey can be found playing tennis, attending a stand-up comedy show, visiting an art museum or traveling. She is proud to have lived much of her life abroad. She is fluent in Spanish and can read and write conversational Arabic.
