Craig is a seasoned attorney with experience across numerous industries. He is a veteran of more than 25 major trials in both state and federal courts, with multimillion-dollar verdicts and eight figure settlements. He has represented businesses, individuals and thousands of clients as multi-district litigation counsel in mass litigation.
On the business side, he consults on corporate compliance, risk management and oversight. He believes that a broad background in business and litigation is a prerequisite to anticipating next issues and planning for a company’s needs, and he is well suited.
Business acumen
Beginning with a business education at UT Austin, Craig has started and run numerous successful companies. He has worked in the Texas oil and gas drilling industry and on the property side of mineral exploration, in aviation as a commercial pilot, and he has handled real estate development, construction, financing, and transactional projects. He began his legal career at big law, honed his tools with Ernest Cannon, and then co-founded Clark, Depew & Tracey, a Houston litigation boutique where he served as managing partner and handled a large docket with a variety of complex litigation, including oil and gas and commercial disputes, pharmaceutical liability, industrial and other injury and disease, mass torts, and aviation crashes.
His practice at Patterson + Sheridan includes intellectual property, commercial and tort disputes, and consulting to businesses on structural, risk, and liability issues. Craig’s clients value his experience and the informed perspective he brings to projects. Craig has significant trial experience with experts and technical intricacies, and he prides himself on being a communicator who can break down complex issues and get to the heart of the matter.
A Houston native, he and his wife enjoy their family, the city, the highland lakes and the hill country. Craig calls Austin home and gives time to the vibrant Austin startup and technology community and the live music business. He splits office time between Austin and the firm’s Houston and Waco offices, but practices nationally, handling cases all along the gulf coast, New York, California, and Pennsylvania, to name a few.
