Combining deep software development experience with IP law

Harmeena Sandhu is a technical advisor in the firm’s Orange County office, where she collaborates with the firm’s attorneys to protect clients’ intellectual property. She leverages deep experience in coding and machine learning to support the firm’s clients.

Drawing on her extensive software background, Harmeena assists with patent preparation and prosecution for artificial intelligence, machine learning and complex software. She particularly enjoys data visualization and working on projects with large data sets.

Before coming to Patterson + Sheridan, Harmeena interned at a boutique IP patent law firm. She also worked with University of California Davis to help develop an app to supplement the Punjabi language class offered to UC students. Both of these experiences helped her understand the bigger picture of inventions, and she applies these experiences to her work with clients.

A passionate learner and skilled communicator

Ambitious, driven and always seeking to learn new things, Harmeena understands how to communicate effectively with clients and explain information in an easy to understand manner.

Harmeena graduated from the University of San Diego California with a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science and a Specialization in Machine Learning and Neural Computation. She also has a minor in Computer Science and Engineering, and is currently pursuing her Juris Doctor from Loyola Marymount University.

Outside of the office, Harmeena enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and her two dogs. She also enjoys going to the beach and Bhangra dancing.
