International engineering experience

James Sinton partners with clients in the communications, software, electronics, and oil and gas industries. He began his career as a systems engineer with Motorola, where for four years he deployed solutions for the company’s CDMA carriers and managed the installation of 3G networks across China. James’ well-rounded engineering expertise ensures that he not only understands his clients’ technologies through and through, but also provides value by leveraging his insight to connect their intellectual property to overarching business goals.

Training in and out of the classroom

James earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University. There, he served as president of the student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers as well as a member of the Electrical Engineering Honors Society. During law school, James also pursued opportunities to extend his training outside of the classroom and completed high-profile internships with the Newkirk, Oklahoma district attorney’s office, the United States District Court and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Each of these experiences exposed James to the legal research, writing and analysis that directly impact his practice today.

Adding value, one patent at a time

James’ practice covers all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution, from conducting examiner interviews and drafting patent applications to responding to USPTO office actions. He also has experience providing litigation support and due diligence related to a company acquisition. For companies looking to build or maintain their IP portfolios, James possesses the technical knowledge and legal experience to add value in a tangible and sustainable way.

Outside of the office, James enjoys contributing to open-source coding projects.
