Kevin Rollins, Of Counsel

Orange County, CA

O: (713) 623-4844 D: (913)-908-3418

A patent attorney leveraging experience gained as a successful entrepreneur

Kevin Rollins is a dedicated patent attorney who has many years of experience with artificial intelligence and medical devices. As he helps clients protect their valuable IP assets, Kevin prepares and prosecutes patents involving machine learning, complex software, information technology, electronics, semiconductors and medical procedures.

In addition to his work as a practicing patent attorney, Kevin served as General Counsel for two medical device companies which were favorably acquired by a large medical device company.  In these roles, he spearheaded all legal work, including risk assessment, compliance, technology licensing and litigation in addition to drafting and prosecuting nearly 200 patents for the companies. He now leverages all of that experience to work better with inventors and in-house counsel to understand their needs and pain points, often joking that he earned a “PhD in people” as a co-founder of one of the companies.

Detail-oriented, communicative and approachable

Along with his love for his career, Kevin’s favorite part about being an IP attorney is ensuring that the patents he drafts accurately reflect the full story of an invention and the reasoning behind an application. He enjoys interacting with inventors and asking questions to identify their unique goals.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a Master of Engineering in biological engineering from the University of Missouri. This combination of both an electrical and biological engineering background is unique among patent lawyers, making Kevin a versatile ally for his clients. He received his Juris Doctor from the Boston University School of Law where he was an Edward F. Hennessey Distinguished Scholar.

Outside of the office, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family, running and going to the gym. You’ll also find him cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs during football season.
