Passionate about how machines work, Siamak enjoys seeing the science behind the technology he helps patent. He has developed a niche in patenting semiconductors and is an occasional inventor himself. Siamak has helped clients secure various patents in the healthcare technology space, including applications for medical technology devices, speech pathology and glucose monitoring technology. He’s also worked in the image security and fiber optics sectors.
In addition to his previous roles as a patent attorney in the electrical engineering space, Siamak’s professional experience includes working as the in-house intellectual property counsel for a global sporting goods manufacturing company and as an examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Siamak also served in the United States Army.
Approachability, efficiency and collaborative success
Siamak takes a holistic approach when advising inventors. As a strategic partner, in addition to addressing an invention’s technical challenges, he counsels clients on the impact on overall business strategy. Dubbed “the examiner whisperer” by colleagues, Siamak is known for his empathetic and personable demeanor when liaising with the USPTO. He’s earned a reputation for crafting concise and impactful patents that stand the test of time and litigation.
While working as a patent examiner, Siamak gained an insider perspective of the USPTO’s inner workings, which he leverages to his clients’ benefit today. As a patent examiner, he focused on power and resource management for integrated circuits, multi-core processors, 4G/LTE applications, memory devices and more. Siamak believes in collaborating with examiners in a kind and productive manner to move an application forward. He understands the nuances and pressures of being one himself and enjoys building a rapport with whomever he works alongside.
Siamak holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Irvine and his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. He is also an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
An advocate and outdoor adventure enthusiast
When not in the office, Siamak volunteers pro bono with Casa Cornelia Law Center. He provides free legal services to victims of domestic abuse and human and civil rights violations, with a primary commitment to indigenous people in Southern California.
In his spare time, Siamak is an avid waterman. He loves to sail and is a member of the American Sailing Association. He’s traveled to several continents and hopes to continue surfing, sailing and spearfishing across the globe.
