As an attorney in the firm’s Orange County office, Aaron Lazarecky combines stellar communication skills with niche technical knowledge to protect the valuable intellectual property of his clients. He prepares and prosecutes patents involving artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, as well as complex software, information technology, electronics and semiconductors.

Prior to joining Patterson + Sheridan, Aaron worked as a patent attorney for an Am Law 200 firm in California, where he drafted and prosecuted patent applications related to large language models (LLMs), AI algorithms, user interfaces and applications and semiconductors. He also managed a patent portfolio of more than 25 active cases, including international patents in jurisdictions such as China, Europe, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Israel and Taiwan.

Aaron brings valuable industry experience in his work for clients from his time as a design release engineer at a multinational automotive manufacturing company. In this role, he supported the development of multiple electric harness designs. His hands-on experience with the complex systems found in modern automotive architecture enables him to clearly explain and translate intricate technologies into accessible language—an essential skill when drafting and prosecuting patents.

Aaron is able to break down complex topics and explain them in a clear and easy-to-understand manner. He thrives when learning about new technologies and loves to challenge himself with understanding their inner workings.

This is especially true for AI, which he is actively exploring. Aaron is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence at Johns Hopkins University, which provides him with a comprehensive and current understanding of the intricacies of AI. Having designed numerous models himself, including LLMs, Aaron leverages this knowledge to support and guide his clients with patents involving AI and machine learning.

Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Wayne State University and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. He is a former Senior Airman for the Michigan National Guard.

Outside of the office, Aaron enjoys writing music, playing a variety of instruments and spending time outside. He is enthusiastic about fitness, biking and swimming and enjoys participating in triathlons.
