Eric studied computer science at The University of North Carolina, taking on a diverse curriculum that focused on advanced subjects such as operating systems, internet programming and databases. Eric also completed hands-on courses that exposed him to the hardware side of computer science – for example, allowing him to map out and design an entire computer down to the level of individual transistors. As a result, Eric brings a broad knowledge-base to his growing practice, which he leverages to support the firm’s leading technology clients.

Eric first began working with the firm as a summer associate and continued on for the duration of his final year at The University of Wake Forest School of Law. It was during this period that he expanded his legal skills to include several key areas of IP such as drafting patent applications, preparing responses to office actions and assisting with examiner interviews. Additionally, Eric completed an internship in the patent department of another IP law firm, where he primarily focused on patent litigation with some exposure to licensing. Today, Eric combines his broad technical knowledge and focused legal expertise to help companies gain protection for their inventions. A keen ability to quickly grasp new technologies allows him to focus on what matters most – crafting strong patents that align with business strategy and goals.

Eric’s hobbies include hiking with his wife and dog, and homebrewing. He also enjoys flying remote-controlled aircraft in his spare time.
