As an attorney in the firm’s Greensboro office, Hunter Berry blends robust legal skills with technical knowledge to protect the intellectual property of his clients. He prepares and prosecutes patents involving artificial intelligence and machine learning, communications technologies, software and information technology, electronics and semiconductors, financial technologies and the internet.
Prior to joining Patterson + Sheridan, Hunter was an associate with a boutique patent law firm, where he drafted applications focused on artificial intelligence, networking equipment, wireless technologies, 5G and cloud computing. He is also a previous summer associate at a full-service IP law firm and a former summer extern for the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer Protection.

When working with clients, Hunter loves learning about new inventions and will take the time to dive deep into the innovations he works on. His approach focuses on small details that can make or break a patent application, and he will ask any questions necessary in order to fully understand an invention.
Hunter earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University and his Bachelor of Science in computer science/creative technologies and political science from Berry College. While in law school, Hunter held leadership positions with the Vanderbilt Law School Ambassadors, the Vanderbilt Space Law Association, and the Vanderbilt Moot Court Board, where he served as a justice overseeing and assisting with Vanderbilt’s travel teams, 1L oral argument program, and undergraduate program. Hunter was also the Senior Technology Editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law.
Outside of the office, Hunter enjoys traveling (he has been to more than 50 countries and counting!), visiting theme parks and participating in high-thrill activities such as skydiving, ziplining and parasailing. Hunter also enjoys spending time with his cat, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, playing video games and coding.
