Patterson + Sheridan, Four Partners Named to LexDana’s 2026 Intelligence Rankings for Patent Prosecution

Patterson + Sheridan LLP has been named among the top 25 patent prosecution firms in the 2026 LexDana Intelligence Rankings. Partners Gero G. McClellan, Randol Read, Keith Taboada and Steve VerSteeg were all named to this year’s list.

In addition, McClellan and Taboada were listed in the Top 50 Attorneys in Patent Prosecution, and Versteeg was named to the Top 100 Attorneys in Patent Prosecution.

The data-driven LexDana Intelligence Rankings track the most active patent prosecution law firms and attorneys before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) based on filing volume, participation frequency and client engagement. McClellan leads the firm’s Greensboro, North Carolina office. He joined Patterson + Sheridan more than two decades ago and focuses his practice on patent preparation, prosecution and strategic counseling for some of the world’s largest tech companies. McClellan’s clients include a leading global technology company with a record number of patents, a Fortune 500 networking equipment provider and a world-renowned innovator in film animation and rendering software.

Read’s practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property law. From securing patents for a global energy leader and one of the world’s leading wireless technology providers to evaluating IP portfolios, he provides strategic counsel and advice to Fortune 500 clients on a wide variety of IP issues.

Taboada practices patent, copyright, and trademark law, with an emphasis on patent prosecution, portfolio management and client counseling. He also supports the firm’s litigation and transactional practice groups, having played key roles in successful trade secret, trademark and patent litigations.

A former USPTO patent examiner, VerSteeg provides patent preparation and prosecution services in industries ranging from electronics to semiconductor chips. He has secured patents and provided strategic counsel for advanced products, including holographic computing equipment, photography marketing software and laser phosphor panel digital displays.
