Blake Wiseman, Associate

Huntsville, AL

O: (256) 679-8998 D: (919) 218-2976

A practice that blends science and research

Blake Wiseman is a detail-oriented attorney in the firm’s Huntsville office who protects his client’s intellectual property through patent preparation and prosecution.

As a former summer associate, Blake drafted responses to rejections, supported new patent applications, reviewed office actions and supported litigation work for a multinational financial software company. He also supported clients in the artificial intelligence, machine learning and software development industries.

Prior to his time with Patterson + Sheridan, Blake worked as a law clerk for two firms in Naples, Florida, where he researched and summarized case law, drafted and reviewed complaints, civil remedy notices and more. He also drafted responses to discovery motions and attended depositions, mediations and arbitrations.

During the spring semester of his 2L year of law school, Blake was a risk management and compliance intern for a global medical device company. Throughout his internship, he reviewed and compiled documentation to conduct agency audits and ensured compliance with state and federal statutes regarding conflicts of interest, gaining valuable insight into the lives of in-house counsel.

A hardworking and honest attorney who puts clients first

When it comes to working with his clients, Blake puts communication first. He believes clear communication is necessary and will be as transparent as possible with a client. He’s forthcoming and prioritizes listening to their full needs before jumping in with questions or concerns.

Blake enjoys the transactional nature of law and loves having a career at the intersection of science and law. He is passionate about understanding new technologies and utilizes his engineering background to quickly break down complex ideas and draft them into an organized and cohesive patent application.

Blake holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and his J.D. from the Ave Maria School of Law. While in law school, Blake was the vice president of the Student Bar Association and was the publication manager for the Ave Maria Law Review. He was also a fellow in the Coach Rod Smith Business Law Institute.

A skilled orator, Blake was a semi-finalist in the 1L Oral Argument Competition and a finalist in the St. Thomas More and St. Thomas Aquinas Oratorical Competition. He was also awarded best brief in the Robert H. Bork Moot Court Appellate Competition. Throughout law school, Blake received several awards from the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI), including recognition in commercial law, patent law, evidence, criminal law, and legal analysis, writing and research.

Outside the office, Blake enjoys playing golf and all things cars: he watches NASCAR, works on cars and will talk for hours about anything to do with them (ask him anything!). He is also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
