Patterson + Sheridan Earns 2022-2023 Mansfield Certification from Diversity Lab

Patterson + Sheridan is incredibly proud to announce that it has once again achieved Mansfield Rule Certification for midsized firms, for its ongoing commitment to fostering and increasing diversity in leadership. Our firm is among over 240 law firms in the U.S. and Canada that have accomplished certification under Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 2022-2023 program, running from July 2022 to July 2023.

Introduced by Diversity Lab in 2017, the Mansfield Rule Certification is a structured certification process designed to ensure all talent at participating law firms and legal departments have a fair and equal opportunity to advance into leadership. Mansfield is focused on broadening the talent pool for consideration for historically underrepresented in the legal profession—such as women lawyers, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities. Increasing the talent through transparent leadership– through appointments, elections, promotions, and other critical activities that impact the pipeline – for dozens of influential leadership committees, roles, and opportunities. The proven and successful research implements a behavioral science and data-driven approach—designed by Diversity Lab in collaboration with talent experts, data scientists, and lawyers—to help increase diversity in leadership.

What does this look like in practice within our firm?
This recognition underscores our dedication to promoting diversity in key positions as we have worked diligently to ensure that underrepresented voices are not only heard, but also valued in every aspect of our firm. This structure empowers us to consistently and intentionally address succession planning for the next generation of leaders, guaranteeing inclusivity and organization throughout all our offices and practices. The Mansfield Certification is not just a recognition; it’s a testament to our belief that diverse perspectives drive innovation and make us a stronger, more dynamic place to work.
